Government College of Technology
The Government College of Technology is an autonomous state funded engineering college
located in Coimbatore, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The college was founded by G.D. Naidu in
the year 1945 as Arthur Hope College of Technology. It was later taken over by the government of
Tamilnadu and was renamed as the Government College of Technology. The college is located on
Thadagam road on a sprawling campus of 45 hectares.
Over the years, the college has been successful in preparing the students with a sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific and Engineering fundamentals. In line with this, the faculties
of the college have taken a lead in incorporating the philosophy of outcome based education in the
process of curriculum development.
The facilities of the college include a central library and computer service centre along with
internet access as well as departmental computer centres. The institute has all the basic infrastructural
facilities for conducting the undergraduate and post graduate courses satisfactorily. There are an
adequate number of well qualified and experienced faculty members and technical supporting staff. The
library is well stacked and there are also computer facilities, workshops and laboratories relevant to the
course of study.
